Sheffield Wednesday have been granted a 28-day adjournment by the High Court over an unpaid tax bill.
The troubled South Yorkshire club had been expected to request an extra two weeks at the High Court today, Wednesday, but the club have instead been granted a further 28 days.
The Owls face a winding up order from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) over an unpaid tax bill in the region of £1.4million and could have been placed into administration by the High Court.
The club's total debt stands at around £27million but there are thought to be four potential buyers currently in talks with Wednesday, although no deal could be struck before the court date.
The fact there is interest in Wednesday is believed to have led the High Court to grant the club the extension, despite the HMRC opposing the move.
Wednesday claim they are very close to finding new owners.
