Cristiano Ronaldo is facing a race against time to be fit for Real Madrid's Champions League clash with Lyon after injuring his thigh.
The Portugese superstar was once again making the headlines on Thursday night as he scored a hat-trick in Real's 7-0 home demolition of relegation-threatened Malaga in La Liga.
However, another excellent individual night for the world-record signing was soured after he was forced from the field after 76 minutes, picking up the problem in completing his hat-trick.
After the game Ronaldo had said he hoped he would be fit to play against Racing Santander this weekend and felt the injury wasn't too bad.
Scans on Friday have proven otherwise, though, and Real Madrid have now confirmed Ronaldo will be out for the next 10-15 days, making him a huge doubt for the return leg of their Champions League last-16 tie with Lyon which resumes 1-1 on March 16.
Ronaldo's 27 goals in 26 league games have played a huge part in keeping Real within touching distance of league leaders Barcelona, Thursday's 7-0 win moving them to within seven points of their great rivals.
