Gordon has fears for season

by Setanta Staff , 29 March 2011

Sunderland keeper Craig Gordon believes he will not be fully fit again until early next season after missing out for Scotland.

Gordon had hoped to play against Brazil on Sunday despite his knee injury, although Black Cats boss Steve Bruce was rather less keen to see him in action, but Allan McGregor remained in goal for Scotland for the full game.

Gordon is unlikely to play again for Sunderland until he has got to the bottom of his knee problem, and he is not due to see Swedish specialist Professor Hakan Alfredson until later next month.

"My fight right now is trying to get fit. I'll cross the next bridge when I come to it," he said.

"I'm not very close to being fully fit to be honest. I go back to see the specialist in the middle of next month.

"It's a possibility (that I will not be fully fit until next season), a strong possibility.

"I'll need to wait and see what the doctor says. I'm in his hands and he will tell me what I'm capable of doing from there."
