Manchester City have said that rumours linking Cristiano Ronaldo to the club are “unfounded” and “ill-informed”.
It was suggested that City were preparing a £150 million bid for the Real Madrid attacker, as the club looks forward to Champions League football next season.
However, whilst City will undoubtedly be busy in the transfer market this summer, it appears that Ronaldo will not be one of the FA Cup winners’ targets.
"Speculation linking the club with Ronaldo is ill-informed and unfounded and nothing other than mischief-making,” senior officials at Manchester City were quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.
"Whilst there is no doubt that Ronaldo is one of the world's greatest players, he is not on the club's list of transfer targets."
Ronaldo spent six highly successful years with City’s neighbours Manchester United, winning three Premier League titles, the Champions League and the FA Cup under Six Alex Ferguson, before being sold to Madrid two years ago.
