Ancelotti: I could manage Hammers

by Tony Cuddihy , 22 May 2011

Carlo Ancelotti has revealed he would consider taking over the vacant job at West Ham, should he get the sack at Chelsea.

The Italian has failed to secure any honours in his second season in charge of Chelsea, following a highly successful first term in which his side won the double.

There has been widespread speculation that Sunday's clash with Everton will be his last in charge of Chelsea, while the relegated Hammers are seeking a replacement for the sacked Avram Grant.

"Why not?" he responded, when questioned on whether he would drop down a division.

"The atmosphere is fantastic also in the Championship. The stadia are full.

"If you watch a game in Italy in the second division, maybe there will be in the stadium 2,000 people. It's totally different.

"It doesn't matter if you can manage a top team or a smaller team. For me, it's important to work.

"I started to train in the (Italian) second division and I was happy in the second division."
