West Ham have targeted Manchester United keeper Tomasz Kuszczak as their new number one to replace Robert Green at the club.
Green is almost certain to be leaving Upton Park this summer, along with a number of other high earners at the club, following their drop into the Championship and the Hammers see Kuszczak as the man to take over.
He is available on a free transfer, as his contract is up at Old Trafford after a five-year spell, and at 29 is still considered to have a good future in the game.
The sooner the Hammers find a replacement for the sacked Avram Grant, the sooner they can start to build for what will be a difficult campaign in the Championship.
And Dave Jones of Cardiff appears to be the new favourite on that front.
