Cardiff boss Malky Mackay has refused to be drawn on whether Craig Bellamy will return to the club next season.
Mackay did not rule out a deal but said Bellamy must first sort out his future at parent club Manchester City.
He told talkSPORT: "I know Craig well. We've known each other for a long time because we played together at Norwich.
"He's a smashing guy and he's somebody who I know trains hard and works really well in games.
"But he is a Manchester City player at the end of the day and he still has a year left on his contract.
"Until Craig and Man City discuss his future there is not any point in us speculating on anything."
