Reading have rejected bids for Shane Long this summer which have not matched anywhere near their valuation of the star striker.
Director of football Nick Hammond has revealed the interest in the Republic of Ireland international, who has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs as well as Scottish side Celtic following his 25 goals last season.
The Royals are believed to be holding out for a fee in excess of £7million for the 24-year-old's services.
Hammond told the Reading Post: "We have had a lot of interest - strong interest in Shane and we've anticipated that.
"We've had offers for the player but nowhere near the levels that are going to tempt us to do business."
