CNCup: Ireland v Wales (19.45)

Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has named a strong side for the clash Carling Nations Cup clash against Wales at the Aviva Stadium.


Seamus Coleman and Ciaran Clark, who have enjoyed excellent seasons at Everton and Manchester City respectively, will both start.

Trapattoni has confirmed ten of his eleven starters, with Robbie Keane, James McCarthy, Kevin Kilbane, Leon Best and Liam Lawrence all missing. The Italian will decide between Paul Green and Darron Gibson on the day of the game.

Gary Speed's first game in charge of Wales since taking over from John Toshack, has been hit by a spate of withdrawals.

Speed was already without Gareth Bale and Craig Bellamy for the game and has now seen Aaron Ramsey, David Edwards and Ched Evans all opt out.

Boaz Myhill, Craig Morgan, Danny Gabbidon and Steve Morison are also missing.

Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey will start, while Neal Eardley, James Collins, Danny Collins and Sam Ricketts make up the defence.

Up front Speed has opted for Robert Earnshaw, while Andrew Crofts, David Vaughan, Simon Church, Hal Robson-Kanu and Andy King have all been named in midfield.
