Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp heaped praise on his players after their superb victory over AC Milan on Tuesday.
Peter Crouch’s away goal earned the London side a 1-0 win at the San Siro in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 tie, and Redknapp could not single out any of his players as he thought they were all magnificent in a great team showing.
“I said at half time we had to keep giving the ball to Aaron Lennon because he really had the beating of the left back all day,” Redknapp told Sky Sports after a Spurs break led to Lennon feeding Crouch for the only goal in the 80th minute.
"We had to keep trying to get him on the ball as much as possible.
Redknapp was less happy with Milan midfielder Mathieu Flamini after seeing video footage of a dreadful two-footed tackle by the Frenchman on Vedran Corluka. The Croatian defender could not continue, with Redknapp opting to replace him with Jonathan Woodgate for his first appearance in 15 months.
"The back four stood firm,” he added. “Obviously I lost Corluka and took a gamble really bringing Jonathan Woodgate on but I just felt his experience would be vital, it was a case of knowing where to be at the right time and I felt that Jonathan could give us that.
"You hear the crowd singing - it's a great night for them, it's a great night for Tottenham."
But he then added on former Arsenal man Flamini’s challenge (for which he was booked): "That's a red card all day - how do you not get a red card for that?
"It's an absolute disgrace - they should look at that surely and they should do something about that. That is a dangerous, dangerous tackle."
Flamini reportedly apologised to Corluka after the game.
