St Ledger exit delayed

by Setanta Staff , 12 January 2012 St Ledger exit delayed

Leicester defender Sean St Ledger's move to Ipswich has been put on hold for the time being at least.

Town earlier this week agreed a deal with Leicester as well as personal terms with the out-of-favour centre-back and were waiting for a decision from the 27-year-old as he weighed up a couple of other options.

But the Foxes have now decided they want to keep St Ledger for next Tuesday's FA Cup replay at home to Nottingham Forest, leaving Jewell wondering what the future now holds for the Republic of Ireland international and whether he turns elsewhere for defensive reinforcements.

"Leicester have got an FA Cup replay against Forest and they must have only just remembered that on Tuesday because they want to keep him for that," said Jewell, speaking after Ipswich's 2-1 defeat at Birmingham.

"Everything was agreed, and I don't know whether they've had any injuries in training or something, I don't know."

He added: "We have got other irons in the fire but that was one we thought was going to happen, but it hasn't. We'll have to wait and see, we think Sean's a good player but if they beat Nottingham Forest they might want him for the next round. I'll have to speak to Nigel (Pearson, Leicester boss)."
