Canaries hit by Rudd blow

by Setanta Staff , 16 January 2012

Paul Lambert could look to bring in a goalkeeper after confirming that Norwich's deputy Declan Rudd faces a two-month injury absence.

The Canaries chief was boosted by the return of number one custodian John Ruddy for Saturday's 2-1 win at West Brom after he missed the 4-1 FA Cup third round win against Burnley a week earlier.

However, when asked why Rudd was absent from the bench at the Hawthorns, with 19-year-old Jed Steer acting as cover for Ruddy, Lambert confirmed that he is facing a spell on the sidelines due to an ankle injury which might require surgery.

He said: "Dec's hurt his ankle, and will be out for couple of months."

And, when quizzed about the possibility of another senior goalkeeper coming to Carrow Road on loan, Lambert added: "I need to sit down with Ian Culverhouse and Jeff Wood and decide what we're going to do, but if push comes to shove, I wouldn't have any fear about Jed whatever.

"I don't think there is much between him and Dec as it is but I'll sit down with the lads and have a discussion about it."
