Jones not for sale - Coates

Stoke City chairman Peter Coates has dismissed rumours that Kenwyne Jones will be sold during the transfer window.


Reports on Wednesday suggested that former Asian club champions Al Hilal from Saudi Arabia had bid £5million for the tall centre-forward.

Additionally, Staffordshire rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers have also been linked with the Trinidad and Tobago star.

But Coates told This Is Staffordshire: "You always get speculation at this time of year. Kenwyne Jones is a good player who hasn't been playing in every game, so I expect people are taking it from there.

"But he's a very good player and we want to keep our good players."

Good player or not, Jones has struggled to feature for the Potters this season, having only started two Premier League starts since the arrival of Peter Crouch in August, although he has been a regular in Stoke's Europa League and FA Cup campaigns.
