Norwich manager Paul Lambert has backed Fernando Torres to come good despite the Chelsea striker's goal famine.
Lambert's side take on Chelsea on Saturday at Carrow Road with Norwich's on-form striker Grant Holt, bought for £400,000, having scored eight Premier League goals this season and Torres having scored two.
It is a stark comparison, but Lambert insists Torres is not daunted by his transfer fee.
Lambert, who was hoping to complete the signing of Leeds midfielder Jonny Howson in time for the clash, said: "Would I like to have Torres? Yeah, course I would. I wouldn't bother about his price tag.
"I know the lad's not scored for a while but he is still a top player, a brilliant footballer, a terrific striker. I don't think it's anything to do with a price tag hanging over his head.
"As long as they have got the hunger to go out and do it, it shouldn't matter how much they cost.
"Football is about lifting trophies, you want to win things.
"But if you are talking value for money Grant has been phenomenal for this club for £400,000. People look at £400,000 and think it's nothing, but to some clubs it's a hell of a lot of money."
Meanwhile, Lambert has confirmed that Norwich are close to wrapping up a deal to sign Leeds United midfielder Jonny Howson.
The Championship outfit confirmed on Wednesday that they had 'reluctantly' accepted an offer in the region of £2million for their 23-year-old captain, whose deal at Elland Road expires in the summer.
And, since then, Howson has travelled down to East Anglia to discuss personal terms with the Canaries, with Lambert confirming that his move will be rubber-stamped once those have been agreed and on the completion of a medical.
The Norwich boss said: "You never quite know until someone signs but I'm pretty sure it's nearly there. We know the extent of the injury and there are no worries about it."
Lambert is hoping that Howson, who has been sidelined by a knee injury of late, will add a goalscoring threat to his midfield options.
He added: "He's been brilliant for Leeds and we need a goalscoring midfielder. If everything goes well he'll be great for us. His rehab is going very well and he is not far away (from playing)."
