Bodde set for third op

by Setanta Staff , 07 February 2012 Star set for third op

Swansea midfielder Ferrie Bodde will have to undergo a third knee operation and the fear is he could decide to call time on his career.

The Dutchman has had a nightmare on the injury front over the last few years and was on his way back to fitness when he suffered a fresh setback playing for the reserves.

Thankfully it is not the same knee that has troubled him before but the player could decide to call it quits if he is told the injury is serious and he is facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines.

"Ferrie Bodde is set to go under the surgeon's scalpel for a third knee operation," a club statement confirmed.

"The Dutchman limped off after just two minutes of Swansea's reserve game against Arsenal last week after stepping up his comeback from a long-standing knee problem that has kept him out for virtually three years.

"While the latest injury is in the other knee, his surgeon has confirmed ligament damage that will require an operation in three to four weeks' time.

"However, the full extent of the injury cannot be fully diagnosed until the swelling has reduced significantly around the knee."
