Woods enjoying golf again

by Michelle Fortune , 08 February 2012

Being able to train without the need for treatment has meant Tiger Woods is once again enjoying golf.

From the high of spending 623 weeks as the world's number one Woods is on recovery mission after dropping out of the world's to 50 following his much-publicised fall from grace.

A change of coach appears to be working for the 36-year-old as he has climbed to 18th in the world rankings with strong results in his last three tournaments, including third in the Abu Dhabi Championship last month.

As he prepares to make his return to the PGA Tour at this week's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Woods has revealed his joy at being able to enjoy the sport once more.

"Golf is more enjoyable than it used to be," he said. "I am at peace with where I'm at.

"I have had to make some changes but I am starting to see the results of that now. My last four events I really played well and I need to be building on that but I am heading in the right direction."

Woods' game began to falter after revelations about his personal life hit the headlines in November 2009 but his recovery was hampered by numerous injury worries.

A lengthy rehabilitation has had the desired effect as he is able to train without having to rush off for treatment and he believes that will prove the difference in his climb back up the rankings.

"It has been huge that I have been able to train again. Rehabbing and training are totally different scenarios - I have been rehabbing pretty much the last couple of years and haven't really trained at all but now I am healthy enough to do it," Woods went on.

"I able to practise literally all day if I want to, for as long as I want and not have to go get treatment, all of those monotonous things just to be able to tee up the next day.

"That is no longer the case so I have made huge progress. My body is feeling explosive again, I am hitting the ball further and able to do the things Sean wants me to do with my swing."
