Blues making future plans - AVB

by Setanta Staff , 11 February 2012

Andre Villas-Boas is confident that he will remain in charge of Chelsea beyond this season by claiming he is planning for next term.

The speculation surrounding the future of the Portuguese tactician has intensified in recent days after Blues owner Roman Abramovich turned up at the club's training ground in the past week to run the rule over their pre-match preparations.

That, coupled with Chelsea's diminishing Premier League title aspirations, has resulted in reports linking Fabio Capello following his resignation from the England job, while former boss Jose Mourinho has been mooted to make a shock return to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

However, with the Londoners still in the FA Cup and preparing to face Napoli in the last-16 of the Champions League, Villas-Boas insists his relationship with Abramovich is positive and they have also been discussing how the side can improve in the summer for a tilt at all four major competitions next season.

He told Chelsea's official website: "At the moment it has been very good, very positive. There is greater empathy and motivation for next year's project. That was what was transmitted to me.

"In the past years there was a pattern of managers shifting and in the end you have to agree that from 2004 Chelsea has been massively successful, the best period of Chelsea's history and hopefully we can progress that within this three-year range with me here.

"When we set out with this team we believed in being ready for four trophies. We had a transfer window open and didn't do any market activity apart from Gary (Cahill) and are confident still in trying to reach the objectives we have for this season with this team and then move on to next year."
