Wasps welcome back Palmer from France

by Setanta Staff , 14 February 2012

England lock Tom Palmer has re-signed with London Wasps following a three-year spell with French outfit Stade Francais.

The second row star won the Heineken Cup and Premiership during his first spell with Wasps after making the switch from Leeds following their relegation at the end of the 2005/06 season.

The 32-year-old spent three seasons at Adams Park before heading to the French capital during which time he has moved on to 35 England caps despite playing in a foreign league.

Wasps director of rugby Dai Young says the line-out specialist represents a "fantastic signing" as the Welshman looks to restore the club to its former glories, with another former player, James Haskell, already confirmed as a signing by the club for 2012/13 following stints in Japan and Super Rugby.

He told Wasps' official website: "This is a fantastic signing for us, and I'm delighted that Tom will be here next season.

"Bringing the kind of quality in that Tom and James (Haskell) will deliver, demonstrates our desire to have a highly-competitive squad next season that will see us I hope push forward very positively.

"Tom is one of the best second-rows in world rugby, and it's a real advantage that he comes to the club with a thorough knowledge of what Wasps is all about."

Haskell also quit Wasps in 2009 for Stade Francais.
