Pogrebnyak plays down injury fears

Pavel Pogrebnyak has allayed fears he may be ruled out for a spell after he picked up a foot injury on his Fulham debut against Stoke.

The Russian international striker, who joined the Cottagers during the January transfer window from German Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart, made an instant impact for Martin Jol's side on his debut with a goal in the 2-0 victory against the Potters on Saturday.

However, while Pogrebnyak expressed his delight at making such a positive start and receiving 'a warm welcome' from the Craven Cottage faithful ahead of the game, he was also quick to play down any suggestions that he could be facing a period of time in the treatment room.

Pogrebnyak was substituted in the match with what looked like a foot problem, but he is confident of being back in the side very soon.

"I twisted my foot a little bit. I wanted to go back but I understood that I can't be useful 100 per cent for my team," Pogrebnyak told Sports-express.ru.

"(In Germany) my same foot was injured but this time nothing serious happened. My foot swelled a bit but I'm sure it will be alright."
