Martinez wants a reaction

by Admin , 22 February 2010 football news

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez urged for a response from his side following Sunday's 3-0 defeat against Tottenham.

The Latics slumped to defeat at the DW Stadium on Sunday as a first half goal from Jermaine Defoe and a late brace from Roman Pavlyuchenko secured victory for Spurs.

Wigan travel to Birmingham City next weekend and Martinez has called on his players to respond with a victory over Alex McLeish's side.

He said: "We need to turn our frustration into a good reaction on Saturday. "

It is vital we carry on working hard and put in some strong performances as we are now in a crucial part of the season."

Meanwhile, midfielder Ben Watson has joined Championship outfit West Brom on loan for the rest of the season after failing to break into the Latics side.
