Saints eye move for striker

by Admin , 24 February 2010 football news

Southampton manager Alan Pardew is lining up a summer move for Barnet winger Albert Adomah, according to reports.

Adomah is out of contract at Underhill at the end of the season after rejecting a new three-year deal that would have made him the highest paid player in the club's history.

The 22-year-old apparently wants to play at a higher level and was a target for Championship clubs Blackpool and Plymouth in the January transfer window before they cooled their interest.

Pardew appears keen to strengthen his attacking options at Saints, whose hopes of forcing their way into the League One play-off picture suffered a setback on Tuesday as they were held to a goalless draw at struggling Wycombe.

The point extended Saints' unbeaten run to six league games but Pardew said: "I wasn't really happy with a draw; we wanted to win the game. "

I thought we were better overall in the second half but we had three or four players in the first half that I was disappointed with.

"In the second half we were better but it was still way down on our performance against Norwich at the weekend. "

We haven't really created enough, maybe we need to look at playing a different type of football on this type of surface.

Gary Waddock has put together a decent side and I think they will be okay."
