Mayweather "not ready", claims Pacquiao

by Admin , 02 March 2010

Manny Pacquiao has continued his war of words with Floyd Mayweather Jr by suggesting the unbeaten American is afraid to fight him.

P4P king Pacquiao was expected to meet Mayweather Jr on March 13 but a row over drug-testing procedures meant the 2010 blockbuster was cancelled.

Filipino icon Pacquiao will now fight Joshua Clottey at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on the same night, while Mayweather Jr will take on "Sugar" Shane Mosley in May.

Pacquiao is convinced superstar Mayweather Jr hid behind the drugs testing row because he never actually wanted the fight to go ahead.

He said: "What I believe is Floyd Mayweather is not ready at this time to fight with me. That's why he makes the reasons to cancel the fight. I feel bad and disappointment because he is accusing me of using drugs or whatever and trying to ruin my name in boxing. People know I have been successful through God and hard work. "

Maybe he is afraid of me or maybe is not ready for this fight.

I am disappointed at what he is accusing me of.

I really feel bad but I have no anger toward him.

This is boxing.

That's his style.

We cannot change that because we are different."
