Reds eye shock Cole swoop

by Admin , 07 March 2010 old trafford

Manchester United are lining up a shock swoop for Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole who looks set to leave on a free transfer.

Cole is due to fall out of contract in the summer but so far there are no signs of him penning a new one at Stamford Bridge and United could be set to swoop.

The 28-year-old is reported to want a pay rise on his £80,000 a week deal but Chelsea are unwilling to give it to him as they try to keep the wage bill under control.

Cole now appears to be heading for the exit door and Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to do a deal, while Tottenham are also keeping tabs on the situation.
