Celtic eye Keane stay

by Admin , 08 March 2010 football news

Celtic boss Tony Mowbray says he has not given up hope of signing Tottenham striker Robbie Keane on a permanent basis.

Keane joined the Hoops on loan for the rest of the season back in January and he bagged a brace on Sunday as Mowbray's men ran out 2-0 winners at Falkirk.

Keane has always expressed a desire to return to Tottenham and fight for his first-team place but Mowbray says there is a chance he could stay north of the border.

"Getting him to extend his stay isn't something that has crossed my mind," said Mowbray. "But we'll wait and see. That's not to say no. "

I don't know what Robbie's thoughts are on his football career.

He's a young guy still, he's contracted to Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League.

I don't know what he thinks about his future.

"In the short term, he's here until the end of the season and hopefully he's got a few more days like today, when he makes the difference."
