Keaney may miss Farney clash

by Oli Skehan , 09 March 2010

Conal Keaney is Pat Gilroy's chief injury concern ahead of Saturday night's Allianz NFL Division One clash with Monaghan at Parnell Park.

The Ballyboden St Enda's man is suffering from a hamstring injury following his exploits in Dublin's first league win over Mayo at McHale Park in 18 years on Sunday.

Eamonn Fennell and Paul Conlon also picked up the same injury and their Dublin teammate Ger Brennan was not pulling any punches on Tuesday referring to the "awful" playing conditions at the Castlebar venue.

Furthermore, Mayo boss John O'Mahony has blamed the uneven, sandy pitch for the broken elbow suffered by Peadar Gardiner.

Keaney turned the game in Dublin's favour after his introduction, kicking a point and playing a creator's role in Bernard Brogan's goal, in his first game of the season after successfully recovering from hamstring and quad muscle injuries.
