Roma's Pet rescue plan to foil United

by Admin , 09 March 2010 old trafford

Roma are battling to keep top teenage midfield talent Stefano Pettinari out of the hands of Manchester United.

The Serie A club were raided by the three-time Premier League champions for the services of Davide Petrucci in July 2008 and do not want to lose their most promising schoolboy talent for nothing again.

Roma are planning to offer Pettinari a new contract to keep him sweet for another season while he continues to develop in their system.

United have four Italian players already on their books with Federico Macheda (ex-Lazio), Michele Fornasier (ex-Fiorentina) and Alberto Massacci (ex-Empoli) having been signed for free after they turned 16.
