Gill: Glazers staying put

by setanta.com staff , 11 March 2010

Manchester United chief executive David Gill has insisted that there is no chance of the club's owners, the Glazer family, being forced out of Old Trafford.

Dismayed by debts of over STG700million, Red Devils supporters have embarked upon an anti-Glazer campaign which appears to be gathering momentum with each passing week.

Indeed, the green and gold scarves - a nod to the club's Newton Heath origins - were very visible during Wednesday's Champions League clash with AC Milan.

However, despite the growing unrest amongst the Manchester United faitful, Gill insists that the Glazers are going nowhere.

"Everyone has the right to protest and there was certainly a lot of green and gold there on Wednesday night, you cannot deny that," Gill said after announcing a new five-year sponsorship deal with Telekom Malaysia.

"But this partnership demonstrates the strength of the club. It is a long-term partnership for five years.

"We will be around for the length of this five-year deal and many more in addition to that.

"We have a sound business model and Telekom Malaysia is partnering one of the best teams in world football. That will always be the case."
