Gretar Steinsson has urged his Bolton team-mates to bounce back from the loss at Sunderland with a win against Wigan this weekend.
The Icelandic full-back was disappointed that Owen Coyle's men were brought crashing back down to earth at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday night when they were thumped by the Black Cats.
And Steinsson claims it is imperative they recapture the form which took them into the game on Wearside on the back of two straight Premier League wins against Wolves and West Ham.
"We have to step things up, take responsibility and get the results we need," he said.
"We got one great result against Wolves and then a fantastic one against West Ham, so the players will give everything they have got to get back on track.
"It's going to be a massive derby game and everyone is determined to get things right.
"We know the fans are behind us and their support is vital."
