Rooney hails returning duo

by Admin , 13 March 2010 old trafford

Manchester United ace Wayne Rooney believes the side can attack with more conviction now that Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are back.

Both centre halves have had their own injury problems all season but they returned to action and United have now kept successive clean sheets.

Rooney believes their return gives the side greater options moving forward.

"It is always difficult when your defenders are injured," he told MUTV. "You base your team around a solid back four and we have not had that all season."

We have used different defenders in different games but thankfully now Rio and Nemanja are back.

"It gives us more stability in defence and that should mean more opportunities to score."
