Kerry talisman Colm Cooper says the Kingdom are looking to push on in the NFL as he fells a good league run can only help their cause to win yet another Sam Maguire.
'Gooch' and his team-mates won both the league and the All-Ireland in 2009, though began this year's NFL Division 1 campaign with losses to Dublin and Cork.
However, they have since bounced back with victories over Derry and Galway and Cooper wants their run of victories to continue against Mayo this weekend.
The prolific forward did not play in the two losses but scored a goal against the Tribesmen as he accounted for 1-12 over the two wins. He now hopes Kerry can push on and challenge the Dubs, Cork and their next opponents Mayo for a place in the final.
"I've been lucky enough to play in a couple of league finals and win a couple of finals," Cooper was quoted as saying by the Irish Independent.
"It doesn't always work like that, but if you look back on teams that have won All-Irelands they've always done well in the league, and that's something we want to continue.
"We've always had very tough games with Mayo, be it in Castlebar or Tralee, but if we can get a win over them next weekend, we'll be in good shape."
As for his own season to date, the Dr Croke's man added: "I suppose I haven't too many games played but every game is going to bring you on a little bit more in sharpness and fitness-wise.
