Top seed Rafael Nadal breezed past Mario Ancic 6-2 6-2 at the ATP BNP Paribas Open in his latest comeback match.
The Spaniard, still searching for match sharpness from an ongoing knee injury, seldom looked in trouble in a one-sided contest and was not required to deal with a break point.
The world number three will now face 15th seed John Isner, who prevailed 7-6 (7/3) 6-4 in an all-American clash with Sam Querrey in Indian Wells, California.
"Coming back from an injury you have to start slowly," he told Sky Sports. "But I am pleased with the way I am playing, and I am in the next round so that is the important thing."
