Pavyluchenko makes Spurs U-turn

by Admin , 18 March 2010 football news

Spurs striker Roman Pavlyuchenko has insisted he is now happy at the club and wants to fire them to glory this season.

The Russia international had been intent on leaving White Hart Lane during the January transfer window due to his lack of first-team opportunities and was linked with Birmingham City as well as with a return to his homeland.

However, boss Harry Redknapp decided to keep him and allow Robbie Keane to move out on loan to Celtic and, as punters looking to use their free bet are in no doubt aware, it appears to have paid dividends as Pavlyuchenko has banged in eight goals in his last six games.

The player himself is, of course, delighted with the turnaround and is determined to fire the goals that will help land a top-four finish.

"I'm not in a hurry to make decisions on my career - unlike last month, when I was sure I would leave," said Pavlyuchenko. "I now think only about the end of the season.

"We stand a good chance of finishing in the Champions League places, so we shouldn't waste this opportunity.

"And we will fight for the FA Cup, too. So I will think about my future in May."

Spurs face a tough trip at the weekend when they travel to the Britannia Stadium to take on Stoke City on Saturday, before their FA Cup quarter-final replay against Fulham at the Lane next Wednesday.
