Spurs star gets World Cup boost

by Admin , 18 March 2010 football news

Winger Aaron Lennon is hoping to be fit for the World Cup after being told he can start running again next week.

Lennon has been out of action since the end of last year with a torn groin muscle and aggravated the injury further last month.

It was feared at one stage that he could miss the rest of the season which had thrown his place in England's World Cup plans into real jeopardy.

But Lennon is ready to resume light running next week and has pencilled in making his long-awaited comeback for Tottenham against Chelsea at White Hart Lane on April 17.

Boss Harry Redknapp said: "It must be frustrating for Aaron. He's desperate to get fit. We just can't get him right. He's had a few goes and broken down. "
