Cadogan to double up this weekend

by GAA Staff , 19 March 2010

Eoin Cadogan has been selected to play for both the Cork footballers and hurlers this weekend.

The dual ace has been named at left wing back in Conor Counihan's football side who face Dublin at Pairc Ui Rinn in NFL Division 1 on Saturday night, while Denis Walsh has named him at full back for the NHL Division 1 game against Waterford at Walsh Park the following day.

Counihan has made several changes to the football side whose one hundred percent record went in Tyrone last week. Donnacha O'Connor and Colm O'Neill miss out because of suspension and injury respectively, so there are starts in the forward line for Fintan Goold and John Hayes. Nicholas Murphy plays at centre forward, while Paul Kerrigan is at full forward rather than Paul O'Flynn.

Paddy O'Shea replaces Ken O'Halloran in goal, while Cadogan and Ger Spillane come into the defence.

Walsh has also rung the changes for the hurlers despite their welcome win over Kilkenny last Sunday. That win meant Cork have won all three of their outings in the league to date but Donal Og Cusack has been replaced in goal by Anthony Nash and the corner back positions go to Kevin Hartnett and Sean Og O hAilpín.

Shane O'Neill moves to right half back as a result with John Gardiner starting in midfield alongside Cathal Naughton and Michael Walsh of Kildorrery beginning the game in the number seven shirt.

Cian McCarthy comes in at centre foward in place of Mark O'Sullivan, with Ben O'Connor and Niall McCarthy flanking him. Michael Cussen is the big man chosen up front ahead of Aisake O hAilpin with Paudie O'Sullivan replacing Patrick Horgan to his left.
