Jim Furyk fired a third round four-under 67 to lead the Transitions Championship by three shots ahead of Sunday's final day in Florida.

The 39-year-old American and 2003 US Open champion, opened with a birdie and picked up three shots on the back nine to finish on 11 under for the tournament with one round to play.

KJ Choi, Retief Goosen, Bubba Watson and Carl Pettersson are well-placed in joint second on eight under, while overnight leader Padraig Harrington followed up his second round 65 with a disappointing one-over 72 on Saturday to sit on seven under alongside Luke Donald and Jeff Maggert.

Furyk, who has gone 58 tournaments since his last win at the Canadian Open in 2007, said: "I want to go out and win a golf tournament. "

That's what we play golf for.

That's what I practise hard for, and I haven't been able to do that in over two-and-a-half years."

"I was real happy with the back nine. I felt like I played solid on the front," he said. "

I was happy with the way I controlled the golf ball.

I knocked in some putts, which helps.

"It was just fun to see some putts go in. The difference in the back nine and the front nine was I saw a few more putts go in on the back side."
