Rangers won the CIS Cup on Sunday after a 1-0 victory over St Mirren at Hampden Park, despite having two men sent off in the second half. Kenny Miller headed the winner.
The Buddies managed to dominate the first half, and Steven Thomson almost put them in front when he collected Michael Higdon's cut-back. Neil Alexander, however, saved on the line.
From the resulting corner, the ball broke out to Barron, who was deployed in central defence in the absence of Chris Innes, and he clipped the top of the crossbar with a long-range pile-driver.
The match turned on its head when Kevin Thomson saw red for Rangers at the start of the second half for a lunge on his namesake Steven.
This managed to galvanise Rangers and both Kris Boyd and Maurice Edu came close with headers, before Danny Wilson was sent off for a professional foul on substitute Craig Dargo.
Walter Smith's side never buckled, despite the fact that they were down to nine men, and Miller grabbed the winner on 86 minutes when he connected with Steven Naismith's cross.
