Killie slip closer to oblivion

by setanta.com staff , 01 May 2010

Kilmarnock slipped closer to the SPL relegation zone on Saturday as they lost 2-1 at home to St Johnstone.

The Rugby Park club are now a spot off the bottom on goal difference only, that despite Frazer Wright having headed them in front on 38 minutes.
Kenny Deuchar eqlaised for the visitors and Colin Samuel then won the game for St Johnsotne with 15 minutes to play.

Killie would have been bottom of the league with two games to go only for a late St Mirren equaliser at Falkirk in a 1-1 draw.

The Bairns stay bottom. They had gone in front just before half-time when an off the ball incident involving Chris Innes and Falkirk's Brian McLean saw the St Mirren man sent off and saw Falkirk awarded a penalty, which Scott Arfield tucked away.

However, Stephen O'Donnell headed an equaliser with four minutes to play to keep the Saints four points clear of the relegation zone.

Elsewhere, Hamilton were 3-1 winners over nine-man Aberdeen at Pittodrie, Flavio Paixao James Wesolowski and Simon Mensing - with a penalty - all scoring for the Accies.

Derek Young fired in a late consolation for the Dons, but only after they had seen Richard Foster and Zander Diamond both sent off.

In the top half of the table, Hearts came from behind to beat Hibernian 2-1 in the Edinburgh derby.

The home side went ahead early in the second half courtesy of a goal from the prolific Anthony Stokes. However, Suso Santana and David Obua hit back for Hearts.
