Preview: Atletico Madrid v Fulham

by setanta.com staff , 12 May 2010

Fulham are sweating over the fitness of both Bobby Zamora and Damien Duff before Wednesday night's Europa League final against Atletico Madrid.

Both players trained this week after recovering from Achilles and leg injuries respectively, and will continue to be monitored over the next 24 hours.

"Both players trained on Monday and that was very positive," said Fulham boss Roy Hodgson.

"Hopefully they'll train again and we'll have to wait and see if there's any reaction to that.

"I've been given no indication that they're suffering from a reaction so my hope is that they'll be available."

Defenders Paul Konchesky, Aaron Hughes and Brede Hangeland all missed the 4-0 defeat to Arsenal in the final Premier League game of the season with knocks, but all three are expected to start the clash against the side from La Liga.

However, on-loan duo Nickey Shorey (from Aston Villa) and Stefano Okaka Chuka (from Roma) are not illegible.

Atletico rested a pile of players against Sporting Gijon at the weekend, but key strike duo Diego Forlan and Sergio Aguero are set to return on Wednesday evening.

Paulo Assuncao should also play as coach Quique Sanchez Flores has a near full-strength squad for the final, though young goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo is out after sustaining ligament damage against Gijon.

Luis Perea should overcome a slight knock to play in defence, but Tiago and Ibrahima are not eligible.
