Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is on the verge of securing a deal a £2million deal for Dutch right-back Ronnie Stam.
Stam won the Eredivisie title last season with FC Twente, then managed by former England boss Steve McLaren, but now looks set to make the move to England with Wigan believed to be close to sealing a deal.
The defender has made over 50 appearances, scoring two goals, for FC Twente since he joined the Dutch outfit in 2008 but is now closing in on a move to the DW Stadium.
It is thought the 26-year-old will undergo a medical in Wigan later today, with Martinez hopeful the deal will go through before the end of the week.
