Redwood made all the late running to steal the Coutts Glorious Stakes at Goodwood on Friday afternoon.
The Barry Hills-trained four-year-old was sent off as a 7-1 shot, having come in second in the Princess of Wales's Stakes at Newmarket's July meeting.
Hills' son Michael settled Redwood at the rear of the field but, once race leader and favourite Duncan came under pressure early in the straight before encountering interference, Redwood and Sri Putra made their moves.
The former won the tussle in the final furlong and managed to take victory by a length and a half.
