No Toon move for Samuel

by Admin , 31 July 2010 No Toon move for defender

Bolton boss Owen Coyle has revealed Newcastle have not pursued their interest in defender Jlloyd Samuel but hasn't ruled out a deal.

Reports earlier in the summer linked Newcastle with the Wanderers left-back, who has now been pushed further down the Reebok pecking-order following the arrival of Marcos Alonso from Real Madrid.

Coyle has now confirmed that he has spoken to Newcastle counterpart Chris Hughton regarding the player, and while Hughton admitted he was considering a swoop for the former Aston Villa man, talks between the clubs have gone no further.

"I had a conversation with Chris Hughton at the time because the player's name had been mentioned without anyone having any dialogue with me, and he said that Jlloyd was on his list - he didn't mention whether that was at the top, middle or bottom," Coyle told the Bolton News.

"I informed Jlloyd but it hasn't moved on from there."
