by Admin , 04 August 2010 Russell raring to go at Deepdale

Darel Russell has signed a three-year contract at Preston and said it was a 'no-brainer'.

It what was revealed earlier on Wednesday that the midfielder was ready to sign for Preston after leaving Championship new boys Norwich.

He is happy to have completed his move and claims it was a footballing 'no-brainer'.

"It looks like a club that are trying to play in the right way which is a big thing," said the midfielder "They have the right mentality of trying to bring the young lads through and progress that way."

Preston boss Darren Ferguson was equally delighted with the transfer and praised his new signing, believing his recent promotion to the Championship with the Canaries will have helped give him a 'winning mentality'.

"We've managed to sign him up, he's a big, big signing for us," he said.

"He's one I have been after for about seven months now, I tried to get him in January but there was no way Norwich were going to let him go then, he is one I have been interested in a while and I am really pleased to get him on board. He has got good energies, he is fit, he will get up and down, he will put a tackle in, he is different to what we have got, that was key to it as well. "

He got promotion last year, so he has got that winning mentality so he ticks all the boxes and I am delighted to get him in."
