Coldrick in the middle for football final

by Setanta staff , 02 September 2010

Meath official David Coldrick has been appointed to take charge of the upcoming All-Ireland SFC final between Cork and Down.

The selection of Coldrick comes a little as a surprise as it was thought that Galway’s Gearóid O’Conámha and Donegal’s whistler Jimmy White were the two men in contention, but Coldrick – who refereed the decider between Cork and Kerry three years ago – now gets a second go at the big one.

O’Conámha will now instead be the stand-by referee with Laois man Maurice Deegan linesman and Syl Doyle (Wexford) the sideline official.

Umpires Tony Kearney, John Coldrick (both Blackhall Gaels), James Matthews (Cortown) and Stephen O’Hare (Syddan) will man the posts at either end.

Meanwhile, the minor final between Cork and Tyrone will be refereed by Sligo man Michael Duffy. Kevin Bourke, Pat Cawley, Pádraig McGourty and Pádraic Hamilton will be his umpires, while Meath’s Joe Curley is stand-by referee, Frank Flynn of Leitrim will be linesman and John Fitzpatrick of New York will man the sideline.
