Preview: Chelsea v Marseille (Tues)

by Setanta staff , 27 September 2010

Chelsea are without star men Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard for Tuesday's Champions League visit of Marseille.

Drogba sits out the Group F clash with his old club as he serves the second game of a two-match ban for the red card he picked up against Inter Milan, as Chelsea crashed out of last season's competition back in March.

Lampard, meanwhile, misses out once again for the Stamford Bridge clash as he still needs time to recover from hernia surgery. He is expected to return after the international break.

Salomon Kalou (thigh) and Yossi Benayoun (calf) are also missing as Cheslea look to bounce back from successive defeats to Newcastle United (Carling Cup) and Manchester City (Premier League), but young French winger Gael Kakuta has overcome his back injury.

Loic Remy, the striker linked with half the clubs in the Premier League before the transfer window shut, could come into l'OM's team after impressing as a substitute in the weekend 2-1 win over Sochaux in France's top flight.

Former Charlton Athletic defender Souleymane Diawara was also back for that game and he could keep his place in the side managed by former Blues midfielder Didier Deschamps.

Chelsea beat MSK Zilina in Slovakia in their opening Group F game, but l'OM are under pressure after they lost at home to Spartak Moscow.

Chelsea (from): Cech, Ivanovic, Terry, Alex, Cole, Ramires, Mikel, Essien, Anelka, Borini, Kakuta, Malouda, Ferriera, Bruma, Zhirkov, Sturridge, Turnbull, Van Aanholt, McEachran.
