Fenlon praises Bohs character

by Setanta Staff , 11 October 2010

Pat Fenlon has praised his Bohemians' players for the character they have shown in recent matches as they edge closer to the Airtricity League title.

Victory for Bohemians over St Patrick's Athletic coupled with Shamrock Rovers defeat to Sporting Fingal has seen the Gypsies move to the top of the table with just two matches remaining.

The momentum is with Fenlon's men and the manager has heaped praise on his squad for the determination they have shown in the final few weeks of the season.

"It's not a bad time of the season to be top of the table," he is quoted as saying in the Irish Daily Mirror.

"All we wanted to do was to bring it t the last day of the season and see what happens.

"We said eight weeks ago when looking at the fixtures how many points can we get? And we're very close to the target, in fairness, all we can do is win the next two.

"We've got good momentum. We’re not conceding goals, which is a plus. I put it all down to the players. We've got great lads in the dressing room. They've had a hard season both on and off the pitch.

"Everybody knows about the disappointment in Europe which obviously sticks in the craw a little bit. Then to go to Tallaght and get battered as well not long afterwards. That's difficult for everybody in the club, both supporters and players.

"They've bounced back. And I think they've shown that they care and are willing to work as hard as they can for the cause.

"I think the last two games proved that. So hopefully the supporters have gone away saying that the players have shown real character over the last two games."
