Australia have beaten England in the seven-match one-day series, after a 51-run win in Brisbane gave them an unassailable 4-1 lead.
Earlier, Chris Woakes claimed the best figures by an England bowler abroad in one-day cricket with six for 45 as Australia were bowled out for 249 in 49.3 overs.
Australia's stand-in captain Michael Clarke top-scored with 54 despite walking to the crease to a chorus of boos from the Gabba crowd.
However, Brett Lee rolled back the years as England were bowled out for 198.
Ian Bell (30) and Kevin Pietersen (46) put on a stand of 73 for the fourth wicket, whilst a 53-run stand between last pair James Anderson and Steven Finn, the latter hitting 35 from 24 balls, gave some gloss to England's losing cause.
There was worse news for England when Ajmal Shahzad suffered a leg injury, and Chris Tremlett was ruled out before the game with a slight side strain. Graeme Swann and Tim Bresnan have already flown home with injury.
England captain Andrew Strauss conceded his team have performed badly in the one-day series in Australia.
"We're very disappointed with how we've played as a batting group. There's been a lot of talking but talking doesn't bring results - guys have to bring it to the middle.
"We want the guys to play positively. We've got the World Cup coming up and I'd hate to see guys go into their shells but it's decision-making - when is the right time to attack and the right time to defend - and we haven't done that well enough. The reasons for that, I'm not sure.
"We've played very badly, we could have won the first two games and probably should. We haven't played smart cricket.
"We've got two games to get momentum for the World Cup."
