Edin Dzeko scored his first goal for Manchester City, as Roberto Mancini's men salvaged a 1-1 draw in the FA Cup fourth round tie with Notts County at Meadow Lane.
Journeyman Neal Bishop, a 29-year-old who started his career at Middlesbrough but ended up at Whitby and Scarborough, had netted the opener for County just before the hour.
Manchester City had the better of a goalless first half, though never really threatened to score once in the first 45 minutes.
That chance came early, when Micah Richards ran down the right flank and crossed, and though Yaya Toure met Richards' cross at the near post, County goalkeeper Stuart Nelson did well to save with his feet.
At the start of the second half, Richards sent in a low cross again from the right but Dzeko wastefully shot over the bar from close range.
County's Lee Hughes thought he should have had a penalty just before the hour when he went down under Joleon Lescott's challenge, but referee Chris Foy judged that it should be a corner for Paul Ince's men.
And is was from that corner that the League One side took the lead, when Bishop glanced Alan Gow's set-piece past City goalkeeper Joe Hart and into the top corner.
However, Dzeko, on his FA Cup debut, made amends for his earlier miss by sweeping home Richards' cross on 80 minutes, the former England player once again outpacing the County defence down the right before crossing superbly into the danger area.
