Barry Prior has insisted that the underdog tag that follows Leitrim into every game suits them.
Having already upset Sligo in their Connacht Senior Football Championship opener, they now aim to do it again on Sunday against reigning Connacht champions Roscommon.
Prior is unfazed by the fact that Leitrim only boasts a population of 28,950 people and believes that other counties do not hold an advantage over the Ridge men because of this.
“We don’t look at the population thing at all,” said Prior.
“It is not a consideration for us.
“At the end of the day it is 15 against 15 on the field and any of the teams I have played against in the Championship over the last few years, there has been nothing in it.
“Any team we play we go in as underdogs, but we are so used to it that we don’t fear playing anyone.”
Leitrim have failed to register a win over their neighbours in their last four meetings, but Prior believes that Sunday’s game will be a different story.
“There would be a strong rivalry there,” he continued.
“They have always been close games and we are hoping this year we can push it on from last year.
“They are Connacht champions and you saw last year what they can do. They’re a very good championship team.
“But the favourites tag doesn’t sit well with everyone. You saw Sligo the last day.”
Both teams are unchanged heading into Sunday’s game.
