Khan relishing Judah battle

by Setanta Staff , 23 July 2011

WBA light-welterweight champion Amir Khan has said that he is relishing a "tear-up" against Zab Judah in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Bolton fighter Khan will move a step closer to a potential 2012 super-fight against Floyd Mayweather if he is successful at the Mandalay Bay Events Centre.

The 24-year-old has brushed up under the tutelage of Freddie Roach at his Wildcard Gym in LA and has shed his chinny reputation, but has struggled previously against southpaws.

His April showdown against Paul McCloskey at Manchester's MEN Arena was uninspiring and IBF belt holder Judah has the experience to cause an upset.

Khan says he has learnt to bide his time rather than rush forward but has no plans to change his risk-taking approach in Sin City.

"The guys I'm fighting are tough and are big names. I'm not one to run and make a fight look bad," said Khan.

"I still get involved if I can. I like a tear-up when people think I might take it easy."

He added: "My trainer Freddie Roach has got me to calm down just a little bit because I get a little bit impatient waiting. I jump in and that's when you make mistakes.

"Sometimes it's risky the way I fight, but that's what makes me special. People want to watch me because they know I take risks."

Brooklyn-native Judah, 33, has been in the ring with the likes of Floyd Mayweather, Miguel Cotto and Kostya Tszyu during his career but lost against all three among six defeats in 49 contests.
