Stack may be back for more

by JP Lonergan , 05 August 2011

Limerick veteran Tommy Stack may play in the championship once again in 2012.

The Dromcollogher-Broadford clubman returned to the county fold for the first time in six years this season, and played a pivotal role as his side battled past Offaly, Waterford and Wexford to reach the All-Ireland quarter-finals.

They received their second chiding of the campaign to Kerry in last Sunday’s last eight tie, however the impressive former Limerick captain got enough of a taste for the inter-county action to ensure that he will not make any fast decisions about walking away once again.

"Next year is a long way away," Stack told the Limerick Leader. "I would definitely consider it but I won't commit to anything at the moment - I really enjoyed the last few weeks.

"Maurice (Horan, Limerick boss) said that he could use someone with experience like myself and I also felt myself that I could add something because it had been a good while since I retired and I wanted to see if I still had what it took.

"It was certainly a good experience over the last five or six weeks and I wouldn't change anything. I was so impressed by the set up and all the lads involved that I wish I was there from the start of the year."
